@bloghomework from 12/11/15 from @missy @rambo and @lyxzen asked us to share some of our favorite holiday memories and photos!
This year my family is focused on creating new traditions and altering old ones. As some of you who follow my blog regularly, or are a close friend to me here in this community, this year my grandpa, my mother, and my close canine companion passed leaving myself and my remaining family to adapt to these changes.
One of the yearly traditions with my father is to get our picture with Santa. Other then one year in 2012 we had our photo taken with the same mall Santa until this year. This year marked the first year with a new Santa at Mayfair Mall, the Santa of my childhood ( at least 20 years) had retired. (Some how as I am writing this I realize how much this really saddens me...)
After some family drama I told my dad his on again off again girlfriend was not welcome in our family photo, as you will see in photos from 2013, 2014.
This year I wanted to make sure I was able to build and decorate a ginger bread house with my grandma, unfortunately she was too busy so we made it a joint effort between my dad, my man and myself to decorate and adorn this years gingerbread house. ( Long story short: I needed to redeem my one memory of ginger bread building from my childhood).
When I was younger on my mom's side of the family we would have a Christmas dinner, visit, have pie and exchange gifts of Christmas eve. My grandma battled with Parkinson's disease and the last Christmas dinner we had was in 2007. I remembered this for two reasons it marked the end of a tradition and my grandpa and dropped one of the hot pans out of the oven and my mom laughed it off spatula-ed all the double baked potatoes off the ground and served them to everyone at the table. Everyone at the potatoes except for my grandpa who was still steaming mad about it and refused to humor my mom. This was the first year my mother's sister put on a casual but great Christmas get together with a full meal. She even went out of her way to make sure the entire menu was gluten free so I could have a whole meal.
My dad's side of my family exchanges gifts on Christmas day. This year my aunt spoiled me rotten and I totally feel guilty.
One of the cutest gifts she got me was this Betsey Johnson bottle opener.
I also got this sweet Christmas card & thank you from @skullycaliber ❤
This was to date one of the nicest Christmas' I have had. Thanks for letting me share this with all of you.
xoxo
