Let's have a comercial break.
Let me present to you the game of games. I know it's complatly unrelated but I just need to spread the word:
The name is Dominions 3 and it is an old school turn based strategy game.
Okay, that it's old school if it's turn based is vacous truth.
However, it offers more strategic deeps than any other game ever before ... to my knowledge.
Let's have a banner:
Now this is promotion, isn't it?
But there is more:
More then 2000 diffrent units. From the common militia to the knight, the mage the Lizard King, bolder throwing giants and mind-blasting illithids.
These units are divided into diffrent nations - 68 with the latest patch -, and those again divided into 3 diffrent ages.
There is much to do, the average turn consists of:
-Watching and analysing the battles that happened since the last turn.
-Recruiting new troops in your castles.
-Asigning troops to commanders and sending them from province to province - and attacking the enemy.
-Ordering the mages to research better spells, casing rituals or forging magic items.
-Giving the items to powerful summoned creatures can create powerful Supercombatants, who fight whole armies.
-And a lot more, from pillaging to assasinating, setting taxes, mercenaries, sieges and never forget:
-Spreading the faith in your pretender god:
Military might is not everything in Dominions, with every nation you can choose one out of a list of powerful pretenders, fighting to become the one true god. - Because if nobody believes in a god anymore, he is vanquished.
So many cool features, let's just have another banner:
You allready want to take a look at it yourself?

Is there more?
Yes, the game comes with good modding support for even more stuff (you just have to sort out the crap).
The last patch is just a week old and it's not unreasonable to asume it wasn't the last. And what they call patch would be an expansion for many other games.
I really like that campaign. There are not really and hot pictures in the game, because the units are like 16 to 64 pixel high but ... that should be no reason to not have nice banners.
Let's come to the most imporant point: Multiplayer!
Multiplayer has much resemblance with a social life - don't we TBS-players try to avoid exacly that? No longer! Dominions 3 was designed with "Play by Email" in mind. Players sent their turn decissions to the host, who calculates the new turn and sends it back to the players. Yes, one game can take long.
I prefer lokal games and usually play hot seat mode with a friend.
Of course, this does not work great with games at 5-15 players: More then two at one PC might take a bit to long, there you should better play simultanous by LAN.
Anyway, did I mention that the Multiplayer aspect is great? It is.
So, when will you like it:
You will love it, if you like epic fantasy strategy games with an extreamly detailed combat system and unequalt strategic debth.
When will you hate it:
If you prefer a modern graphic and/or a fast action-driven gameplay, you might rather check Starcraft 2, since Dominions would probably get the "Not for me" button then.
I think everything important is said. I'll just have another pretty ad, because women with swords is teh hotness
