So. Yeah. I was just lying bed trying to get some shut-eye (last night was a late one) and after half an hour of complete wakefulness I realised the futility of laying there like a tard and decided to come write a blog entry instead
It's been ages since I wrote one and life is as eventful as ever. Meh, if you know me you'll already know the details. What I want to talk about is the Golden Globe Awards.
That stumped you didn't it? Ah well. They were meant to be held at weekend and instead they were cancelled as none of the actors would cross the picket line formed by the striking writers. Now much as I love movies, and even though loads of my favourite TV shows are off the air due to the strike, I still have to support it wholeheartedly.
The writers in the TV and movie industry generally get shit on by the studios, whilst the actors are lauded and praised for their amazing talents and paid astronomical sums for what is essentially reading stuff out. The vital thing to remember is that they wouldn't have anything to chuffing well perform were it not for the writers' hard work in the first place! So yeah, I may have no influence over the media moguls of Hollywoodland, and I'd more than a little surprised if they were on here reading my blog, but nonetheless I support the writers and hope the strike works out for them in the long run.
It's list time I think
Things I'm happy about at the moment: (You can tell I'm happy from the smilies...)
1. I've made some new friends over the last few months, including a couple I didn't imagine thought much of me, but who it turns out now do like me and we're quickly becoming very good friends
2. I've been talking to someone recently who has helped me to see a lot of things about myself and those around me that I was previously blinkered to. I owe them a lot of thanks as my life has become a hell of a lot better as a result of the knowledge.
3. I DJ'd and did the door on NYE and it was fucking awesome. Really good to see so many people have such a good time and listen to some cracking tunes too
4. The guy who spent 45 minutes trying to make me angry on NYE eventually walked away only to get hit by someone else, which was rather gratifying.
5. I got a new printer and it's AWESOME
Things that I'm less than happy about at the moment:
1. My beautiful and wonderful other half has had to go away for a while and I miss her like hell.
2. My evil skin seems to be determined not to heal. Which is rather unsightly and very, very annoying.
3. America, still.
4. My client who still seems to think that I'll somehow be fooled into being his performing monkey and produce work for him free of charge. Silly, silly man.
5. The fact that every time I feel remotely weak, tired, hungover or any combination of those things, I'm only a couple of minutes from a panic attack. It's really, really, really shit.
I think you should read:
The Raw Shark Texts by Steven Hall - It's absolutely awesome and far too complex a concept to bother trying to explain here, but nonetheless, you should read it. Oh, and the author is from Glossop, which is kinda cool too.
Don't Read This Book If You're Stupid by Tibor Fischer - Excellent short stories with a completely misleading title. But you still shouldn't read it if you're stupid, you should probably go play with rocks or something.
I think you should see:
The Golden Compass - It does a fantastic job of getting as much of the first book into the film as possible and the sets and costumes are fucking phenomenal. Although the song at the end is execrable at best, but good for a chuckle.
I Am Legend - An absolute cracker with the best animal actor I've ever seen and some very creepy moments.
I think you should buy:
Me a pint, I'm skint as all hell.
Well that's it, Peace and love and all that stuff, see you soon
x
