saw the black keys friday....
all counties seemed to be represented
those 2 akron boys are fucking, fucking astounding!
they finished with the stooges' no fun.
so gorgeous....
once or twice i did feel old and jaded...
and drunk, throughout.
discovered some new, mysterious strain of boy
makin' the scene in c-town.
they seem to favor sunglasses, shirts that snap,
bawdy talk, and foam & mesh
heard gossip about the other local band on tour,
something about a night in jail.....!

"the band played waltzing matilda" is by an aussie named eric bogle, the song was written in the 70s, i think before Waits wrote his song, about Anzac Day, an aussie holiday that illbill can tell you all about it's a day that commemorates the battle of gallipoli, in which the aussie troops actually got completely slaughtered. but it's a huge holiday in australia, big parades and all that.

Your "mysterious strain of boy" sounds like half the population of L.A. The question is, is it a good thing or a bad thing?
