As you may have guessed, the new profile pic is not of me. Ten points to the art or literature major who can guess who it actually is.

Not much is going on these days. I think it's better that way.

So I'm sitting in the lecture yesterday, listening to the prof yammer on about F1-F0 ATPase pumps driven by the proton motive force generating by cytochromes lining the inner membrane of the mitochondrial matrix, and all of the sudden, a 25-piece marching band strides in and starts playing the "Sesame Street" theme song. They get up on the stage with the professor, and proceed to...

This week's issue of NOW Magazine (nowtoronto.com) has a piece questioning the wisdom and sanity of "Canadian ad execs" who chose to put the song "There She Goes" (by The La's) into a Kellogg's commercial for Special K. They refer to its alleged references to heroin use and suggest that it's either "clever subliminal advertising or just a real dumb mistake."

confused

Does anyone think they're...

I think Now is probably giving too much credit to ad execs for even realizing such references.

Wow, that Kellog was one mad and dangerous man. "...pure carbolic acid to the clitoris..."?!?!?!?

Ech, I put too much salt in my omellette. puke

In half an hour, I'll be turning 22. What's good about being 22? It's not like turning 21, when you can do all sorts of things (legally) that previously you could not. The only good thing I can say is that it's a double-number birthday, and they only come around every 11 years!

My blinds are...

OK, it's Tool Time at the mycophile household. Frustrated that I haven't been able to properly install the mini-blinds I bought over a year ago, I decided to take action. The following recounts my adventure.

Preliminaries: The landlord won't let us use nails, screw, or anything else that pierces the walls, so I have to use No More Nails industrial-strength glue to attach things. Also:...

I'm going home tomorrow, yay! No more Brooklyn! Not that I have anything against the borough in particular, but I really feel like it's time to get back to the real world, where I don't have to deal with the issues that plague my family. (Apparently some close relatives of mine made the front page of the NY Times -- because they're being sued for...

Regards once again from NYC. Grooverider and myself went to see "The Two Towers" tonight and went out for a drink and chat afterwards. Fun, as well as some tasty wontons with peanut sauce, was had by everyone. You guys at the SGNY NYE thing will be glad to know that Groove is a most excellent person to hang around with.

It's midnight here, and in 9 hours I will board a train to New York City. I will arrive at least 12 hours later, tired, hungry, and very much in pain from sitting on my butt for an extended period of time. Why, you say, am I going through with such torture? Because I have a voucher worth $25 on Amtrak travel and I want...

Hello, hello. There's really nothing happening today. Classes are over until January. I read a neuroscience textbook in two sittings. Fascinating stuff, how the brain works, and what it does when things go wrong.

Going to NYC on Sunday. I'm in for a 12-hour train ride, which I've done a few times before and regretted. Good thing I bought some cheap computer games to keep...

i lived in a gehry home for a while. it was soectacular. you may wanna reconsider.

ive never spoken first person to my grandmother about her story. i get all my information piecemeal from other family members. i mean we talk about the nazis and we talk about how hard it was, but she doesnt talk about her experience. she looks at me and i can see the thin wall she has errected to hold back the pain in her eyes though.
