"Seek truth in meditation, not in moldy books. Look in the sky to find the moon, not in the pond." --Persion proverb.

...caught myself looking in the pond again.

on that note, gotta go look in the well--meet a friend for drinks, that is.

skull halloween weekend in the city---ooooooooooow! like many of you i have spent the last couple of days marauding across san francisco, sporting various last minute costumes, singin' me shanty at the top of me lungs to any passersby sober or naive enough to take notice of me. sweet, sweet halloween weekend...and to think, it's only sunday. i am having vague memories of vernie and i...

Silly. I was a rodeo clown two nights ago when I was in Minneapolis. I lost my straw hat and my ride home. I hear Bart is running all night. Boo.

ooo aaa "Precepts?" ooo aaa

Precepts?
What precepts?
Sitting at a kitchen table
How metaphysical
Though the table
Is not my own,
Of course
And these are not my words
Scribbled beside me
But they sounded so fitting
When I read them
So fitting
That I sketched their lines
Assumed their outline
In my cheap cardboard journal
Called them my own
Without earnest
Compelled by the burden
Of false...

Read your journal before I went outside today. All I could think about the last post, was Magrittes "Ceci nest pas un pipe".
Strange.
I walk around without glasses too. Its strange how everything changes. I always take photos of real mundane stuff, because Im endlessly fascinated by the sharpness and detail and calmness of the photos, as opposed to the blur of things in reality smile

Hehe.. . Explain the Norway thing you say! Im in the middle of it, and as social scientists would say, I have "gone native" so long ago that I no longer have any remnants of objectivity left :p

Right now, the Norway thing has freaky weather, which soon will turn into cold, slushy, windy autumn, which will make me want a car more than ever smile

Heres what it looks like where I grew up:

not sure when the fog lifted, or where it settled. sat with a bunch of hipsters all day today, listening to some tunes. been doing a lot of walking lately. can't make myself sit still. the streets out here seem narrower than they used to, or maybe i just feel wider. my eyes get stuck on my laces while i am walking. i find myself...

My friends were at the Grand Lake, lady playing the organ passed out with her head on the keys hitting a high note. I think she was alright in the end. That makes it a funny story.

had little dinner party last night as an excuse to invite people over to my new place in SF. i literally spent the entire day in the kitchen going cook crazy & havin' a blast. made stuffed mushrooms, lentil minestrone, polenta squares with a white mushroom sauce, and turkey meatballs. yum, got leftovers for days.

mmm..reading T.S. Lewis at the moment...anyone ever read The 4 Loves? highlight of my day was an elderly man with a walker making me wanna cry today. his truck rolled into my car in SF, and i was trying to be SO nice about it, wasn't even gonna report it. yeah, it was one of those walkers with 2 tennis balls on the rear 2...

Did the old geezer go off at you?
Old men remind of me where Im headed, and memento mori and all that. Like this guy in his best suit.

hiya.
Ill tell you about mr Emo Norway one of these days, if you want smile
I jsut saw that you list motorcycles as one of your interests, so I figured Id show you mine. Its a Norton Commando Interstate, 1973. When I finish wiith it, its gonna look like this, I hope.
Now tell me about dirty martinis and Alaska!
sophie:
for one thing, san francisco is SO the land of crackheads and 40's. you just painted the realest picture.

hey doll, do you have a favorite SF based tattoo artist/shop? looking to get some more work done, and there seems to be a confict of opinion on the matter. hope all's well w/ya.

all is well with me. and i do have a FAVORITE SF based tattoo artist/shop: it is www.oneshottattoo.com. sky winchester has more talent in his pinky and more humility in is middle finger than most people have in their whole bodies.

my second highest recommendation goes to Henry at Everlasting Tattoo (although their page is having difficulty loading for me at the moment). he did the Pandora girl on my belly, which is to say that he's crazy talented, for sure.

good to hear from you!

As Jack London once said, "The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time." Yeah, London was a real asshole, but I'll still borrow his words from time to time. I will also add that I think it is bad-ass that when my mom turns 50 on...

alright i will. so i went campin a couple weeks ago near yosimite. and we got really drunk. we took the stakes out of a tent so it would colapse on a couple friends. i was drunk at the time and i ran into a small tree and cut my arm and now i have a nice lil scar on it. and my friend dan that went hardly ever drinks. so he ended up drinkin at 9 am. got shit faced. threw up at 11:09 and passed out before noon. it was a great weekend there. i think it was at bass lake. good stuff.

reveling in my redundancy. setting up a tent indoors, checking for all the right parts. yeah, i got all the right pieces, all the right parts. got all the poles'n pegs'n a bottle'o vino to boot. celebrating my second to last night on this freaking rock. got me some tunes in the distance, floating to and fro like the rusty little boats in the harbor,...
