Yeah I keep meaning to update and I'm a bit of a mood oriented person on this updating thing and I really haven't been in the mood and I'm still not but I figure I should and maybe the mood will happen or something like that. Caffiene makes for run on sentences.
Queen is good. I saw were Freddie Mercury supposed died in England (its a wall) when I was 15.
Okay so before Christmas there was a gig that my band, Axis, performed on with two other bands (EgoLikeness and Secret Post). Steven (the keyboardist/Bassist for Axis) and I ran sound for the show too. The show went great! Everyone had a lot of fun that attened and all the bands did great performances! I suppose I'll detail the day.
We show up around 5 and setup the speakers and run the cable through the ceiling beams. EgoLikeness shows up while we're doing this. They are by far one of the nicest bands I have ever met in my life. Anyway, we run a soundcheck on them and that ends around 7. We setup our stuff since we got moved to the first opening band. Kind of sucks, but oh well. So we play and people actually start cheering in the middle of our last song Skin. That has NEVER happened. That was badass. We messed up a whole lot actually but we had a lot of fun doing it and the audience enjoyed it. Secret Post went on after us and did a great set! I've never actually seen them live. They're pretty nice guys too actually. And EgoLikeness did a great show! Dana, the singer, has a wonderful stage personality. The real trick in running sound for them was Steven (yeah they had a Steven in their band too that looks like our Steven)'s mic kept feeding back. But he only sang on one song. So we kept his channel muted except either when he sand or inbetween songs. That was a bit tricky. We unforunately only sold 2 t-shirts but everyone had a blast so it didn't really feel like it mattered.
From a technical aspect I can't tell you much about the bands. Secret Post doing a completely live show but they're more of an 80's alternative rock band (back when Smiths and the Cure were considered alternative). EgoLikeness submixed to us. What that means is they had their own mixer and settings and such and simply sent us a couple channels that contained multiple instruments. So because of that I have no clue what was live and what was not. The drums were playback that much I know. Keyboard wise there is no telling.
My Christmas went great! I did really good on getting my family presents this year. Or at least they gave me great reactions. I spent more moeny than I usually do. I got a lot of mad scientist gear for Christmas (saudering iron, tools, multimeter, etc). Unforunately I also got a heinous cold on Christmas and passed out around 3 pm.
I also started babysitting for my sister. I say baby, she has a two year old and a four year old. Its been fun but exhausting. I can see how nothing else gets done with kids now. As much as I want kids, I have a lot of things I want to do with my life first. Like music. I'd never have time to write music if I had kids. But at the same time, this is just one of those things I'll worry about later.
My Aunt Kendall passed away on Christmas Eve. I really didn't know her very well. My parents drove to Cincinatti for her funeral this week. My mom usually watches my sister's kids so that duty feel to me. All week its been start work at 7:30 AM and end it at 4 pm and pass out at 5 pm and wake up at 2 am. Kind of weird. I'm getting paid but my break really hasn't been much of a break. Either way the parents are back now and its the weekend so time to get a little.
So for New Years I do not know what I am going to do. I'm thinking about going to the Eagle with all my friends. The problem is I'd rather be somewhere where I'm more likely to get kissed by a girl at midnight. The Eagle is supposed to be a gay bar even though the goths have taken it over.
Okay I'll stop typing. I hope everyone had some great holidays!
