This was an e-mail I wrote to my friends Sara and Danielle, my former co-workers from Borders, earlier today.

Craziest thing...
There's a girl at work that makes my heart go
pitter-patter. Actually, there are about 50 girls
that make my heart go pitter-patter, but this one
girl.... it's a bit different.
She works the cash register in staff dining, which is
probably the second easiest job there. I had seen her
around before, but it wasn't till last Saturday that
it nailed me how much she could potentially be my
type. She seems rather non-confrontational, but not
afraid to speak. She's got confidence and has a very
plain beauty, probably thanks to some sort of ethnic
mix in here. Ethnic what? I don't know. I'd guess
1/2 white, 1/2 South American.
So last weekend, we exchanged 3 (three) of those "I
want you" smiles.... y'know, the kind where you have
to use your eyes to really nail it home. Essentially
though, the smiles were laying the groundwork for what
lies ahead. The weekdays passed without me seeing
her... basically, I don't know what her actual job is.
She doesn't work staff dining fulltime, but I think
she's also a buffet host.
ANYway, today I was walking with the lead Buffet Chef
through one of the maze or corridors so we could check
somethin' out, and we turn a corner and I nearly run
right into her. We said "Hi" to each other, but it
was accompanied by so much more.. just the look we
held.. and the smile. Mmm..... made my morning so
much better.
Lunchtime rolls around and she is the one working the
register. There was no line, so me being the moron
that I am go up to her and say "Hi... I don't think
we've been formally introduced. I'm Daniel.." She
tells me that she's Erika, and then we shake hands. A
firm shake, which rocks... she was sure of herself,
but held on a lil' bit longer than if it were a casual
thing. I'm tellin' ya, she wanted to rip my clothes
off and do me Barry White style, right there in the
casino.
Then I told her, "By the way... I'm gettin' a hot
dog." She said "That's $1.50." So the next step?
Maybe talkin'... asking about her... doin' her....
y'know. I think there may be a bonfire that she's
goin' to that I managed to get invited to today, so
we'll see how that all goes. I was talkin 'with a guy
at work though, and he knows her cousin... and I told
him that I thought she had a South American mix to
her, and he said "No man..... no....... she's tribal.
She's an indian." Which means, when she turns 21, the
government is going to send her a big fat check for
the rest of her life. Score!
Just thought I'd share.
Oh, did I ever tell you that I see Kali's Jeremiah
nearly every day? He told me that just a few days
ago, he was taking away someone's roomservice order,
and he lifted up the lil' metal dish cover, and there
was a diaper in it. He then proceeded to throw the
entire tray across the room. Mmmmmm......... this is
hearsay, though.
So, how're things with you and Danielle and whomever
else may be looking over your shoulder?
