What a coincidence, Discovery channel, I'm having my shark week too!
(which may explain my need to rant endlessly about the unimportant)
While eating a bowl of life cereal this morning, flipping through the friday entertainment section of the local paper I saw something that both made me laugh and die a little on the inside. The new mummy movie - which at the moment is at 10% fresh on rottentomatoes.com - recieved 3 1/2 stars (out of 4). This paper also happened to rate Iron Man and The Dark Knight with 3 stars each.
I guess it isn't fair to get my undies bunched in a knot over this without seeing the new mummy movie, but really(?)....a mindless summer action flick, no doubt filled with your typical action one-liners is better than two astonishingly well executed and thought out comic book movies? Somehow I'm a little skeptical.
I've always known the writers for this local paper can't write for shit, but now I realize that they hire critics who don't appear to even watch the movies. At least that would be my guess.
The radio stations around here have pissed me off with their mindless, ill-informed remarks on just about everything - and bad choices of music - so much that I went with sirius a little while back, I wish there was a similar alternative for the local paper.
I hate this town.

Now if they absolutely have to push the release date back some, why wait 'til freakin' July?!!! They could easily do it in December, or at the most, Spring of 2009. But JULY?!!! That's like the Hotbed of the Summer Movie Season! Just because Dark Knight did well doesn't mean Potter has the same chances. It's just ridiculous on their part.
