Today is World Autism Awareness Day.
I have spent the last 3 years working with children on the Autism Spectrum. The kids I work with teach me probably more than I teach them.
Awareness is no longer enough, we need to educate people.
If you have a question, ask, don't assume.
Don't assume the child having a meltdown in the grocery store is screaming because their parents can't keep them under control.
Don't stare. Offer to help. Offer to watch the other kids, or pick up the groceries that fell.
Knowledge really is power.
