So I did get a second job, but the application closing date for two jobs that I actually really, really want both happen to be today.
The first is in an adult forensic mental health care facility as an admin assistant/receptionist; the job was re-advertised after the ad had already been up for two weeks, so i'm thinking that all the prior applicants were unsuitable or there was a lack of interest (except I don't know why that would be). I spent an embarrassingly long time filling out the application answering questions about judgment, relating with "difficult" clients, prior customer service/reception experience and personal experience with mental illness, etc. At this point, I don't see the advantage in being 22; I don't really feel that my age is a reflection on my maturity but believe that's a correlation alot of people automatically make. I honestly think I ticked all the boxes and can work in that kind of environment. The hours are also perfect.
The second is at a community TV station (kinda daggy, but cool) also as a receptionist. It would also be a foot in the door into the whole media shebang as the ad also states the possibilities for progression within the company. I've studied quite a bit of Film & TV and Media, worked on a couple of sets, had stuff screened at ACMI and spent a shit-ton of time working face-to-face with people and doing everything that they'd be asking of me.
I'm so sick of waiting to hear back from people, but really it's all I can do right now
