first blog in over a week...trying to get back into this a little...
Firstly, last saturday my all time fave singer/songwriter Lee Hazlewood died. my dad got me into this guy years ago, and i've been a huge fan since. i managed to see him live three times in the last 6 years, taking my dad the last time he played which was kinda cool.
anyway...i dunno whether i can say i'll miss the guy. i didn't know him. but I loved his music, and he was one hell of a character. i would have loved to have met him and had a beer and a chat.
music is a duller place without him.
"Some Velvet Morning" with Nancy Sinatra
"Summer Wine" with Nancy Sinatra
this past few weeks, the "melon colonies" have been getting to me at regular intervals, coming thick and fast. one minute i'm ok, the next i'm down as fuck.
its not been good quite frankly and didn't know if I was ever gonna get out of the doldrums.
but things are much better now. the black cloud has cleared and i feel relieved.
Iannnnnn took me for a beer on thursday which was cool, and last night i went out with my fave mate Jackie to see Municipal Waste at the Underworld.
I'd got let out of work early (my boss actually told me to go home, as we had nothing going on!), went for a sneaky couple of beers at The Ship, then met Jac and Nutz in Camden.
The gig was great - MW are a particularly dumb and daft punk metal band that cause the most riotous crowd surfin i've ever seen. Its not big and its not clever...but it was great fun and totally entertaining!!
Was great hanging out with everyone, just having a mellow evening having a chat and a beer. it was ace, just what was needed.
and after a long horrible month, i also get back to rehearsing with the band again next week...hopefully with our new singer! things have been quiet on the band front for the last month cos Sarah has been touring with Heroic Doses...so we were drummer-less. i've really missed making a racket for 6 hours once a week, more than i realised. and i can't wait to get back into it.
if Phil works out, we're looking to be recording within the month to chuck out or first EP - totally DIY of course! fingers crossed.
