Chaos ruled the day today. I'm getting bombarded from all sides at work. News people, maintenance people, my bosses, and people wanting to book their band in the store for SXSW....all are tugging at me from every which way. Then there's the shoplifters. I had a 10 minute conversation with this girl who was trying to steal shit. Told me that she was a recovering junkie, a part time prostitute, anarchist squatter. After going through a point/counterpoint discussion on "working for the man" versus living like a turd on the street, she finally asked me if I'd give her a discount. She then admitted that she was originally going to steal the CD, but changed her mind cuz I was nice to her.
What a touching scene it was. Boo hoo.
Speaking of SXSW, the one band I REALLY wanted to play has agreed to do so!!! When the roster is finalized, I will post it.
Talked to my friend in Cali on the phone tonight. She's so cool. Talking to her always puts me in a great mood!
I got a ton of free CDs today: Lazy Cowgirls, The Dragons (the older ones), The Devil Dogs, The Waldos and probably some other ones I forgot. 10 CDs total! That ALWAYS makes me happy.
I'm probably going to see The Winks, The Applicators et al tomorrow night. Saturday is national Thai gluttony day. Tomorrow after work, I'm going to have a cow's stomach surgically attached to mine just as a backup. This is gonna be goooooooooood!!!!
Yes, I know this is all silly and mundane. That's fine, I'll take it. I DON'T WANT ANY DRAMA THIS WEEKEND! I just want to have a great time in the company of good people I can trust. Is that so much to ask? Well, is it!?!
Holy CRAP!!! Mary's set from today is the greatest thing I've ever seen! I don't really like to talk about things of this nature in my journal, but she is truly deadly! Just amazing!
