You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little fucked up maybe, but I'm funny how, I mean funny like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to fuckin' amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?

Hello again you sexy beasties
The sun is out, the skies are blue - I'm beautiful and so are you!
prudence n. 1. caution in practical affairs; discretion. 2. care taken in the management of one's resources. 3. consideration for one's own interests. 4. the quality of being prudent.
Only 12 more assignment left to mark and that's it as far as marking goes for this academic year!! Feckin' Nora, it has been a hard slog for the past month or so. I have a blister on the inside of the third finger on my right hand from providing so much bloody feedback. That is where I have been. At work. All the time.
For those of you who have just finished another year's study at an ex-polytechnic UK University - firstly, good on ya. If you are a member of SG, you are probably one of the most able of your cohort. Guess it is just something about liking boobies. Secondly, the industrial action has been suspended until after the exam boards have met later this month. This means that you WILL be able to proceed/graduate this year.
I have very mixed feelings about this - mainly that I'm extremely sorry for all the worry this action has put you through at yourbusiest time of year - but also because the leader of our union chickened out when faced with the juggernaut of University management and have left us high and dry. meh. Bollox and cock.
.....................
People often ask whether us academic bods have a really long summer holiday. After all, the University appears to be closed. Like balls do we. Personally, I have to retrieve the greatly overdue assignments remaining for my PGCert in Learning and Teaching course, start my PhD reading (at last), prepare for a workshop I am doing at a conference in York at the end of this month, write a couple of papers to submit for publication with a colleague, go on holiday with the family (in July/August) and then it is back to clearing (sitting on the telephone listening to oiks trying to persuade me that their one-width swimming certificate is sufficient for entry onto a degree course in psychology), then it is back to the grind.
So there.
BUT. I do have a few fun days out in the pipeline. Talking of which - last Saturday I had an extremely good time in Nottingham with a load of lurvely people from SGUK. It was GREAT to see you again and meet some of you for the first time!
I would go into more detail, but I intend to go to the pub and get stoned in a few minutes. This time, however, I carefully planned to update my journal first.
SO - it remains for me to gush about my favourite music of the moment:

'Henrietta' and 'Creepin' Up The Backstairs' by The Fratellis

'Late Night Bus' by The Longcut
AND - last but not least:

'Breathe Me' by Sia
JUGGLE MY PLUMS!!!!
