I usually try and steer clear of getting emotional over stuff I have no control over (ie: adopting every child and animal in the world), but after reading this in the LA weekly I just can't help but feel my blood begin to rise to a slow boil... I've been following the story for a few weeks, I guess just since the trial began; long enough to get emotionally involved in it. This teenage girl took a risk and partied with some very depraved brats who knocked her out, raped her vaginally, anally, stuck a pool cue into her, used bottles, a lit cigarette... caught the whole thing on tape, you know, for "later". Turns out one of the rapists was the son of Orange County Assistant Sheriff (and millionaire) Don Haidl, Gregory Scott Haidl. So they basically hire a team of "experts" who "spin" the victim's "version" of the events, and basically put the victim on trial. These "experts" job basically is to play upon society's most heinous axe wound of all time, our cultural acceptance of the idea that the whore *always* gets what she deserves (and wants). Can you imagine how easy of a job we made it for them this time around?
