I am so inspired by this guy. I used to absolutely HATE his music when I was growing up (I was totally an 80's kid), so it's taken me some years to slowly discover his amazing talent. Apparently this was a self portrait, I think it's one of the most beautiful photos I've seen of a man. Where are you on the Elton scale?
This whole thing was inspired by a vh1 special about the making of classic albums... I guess tv isn't all that shite all the time!

I hesitate to say I have a favorite, I have a dozen, but if I had to, I suppose "Daniel." People might assume it's about gay love, since -it's Elton- but, of course, Taupin writes the words, and it's really about a guy feeling sympathy for a Vietnam vet friend. But yknow, there's "Levon," "Someone Saved My Life Tonight," "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," "Tiny Dancer," "Rocket Man"... I think the most underrated from that era is probably "Madman Across the Water." Great song, and Bruce Hornsby did a great cover of it.
