The Monster…
When you were a young boy, playing in the woods with your friends with boo’ boos on your knees ..I bet you never imagined living the hell you have been in for the past several years.
What happened all those years ago? What made this darkness take over ? I know from watching, the monster caught you in the corner when you were down. You had pain, you had confusion and you had no one to turn to in your mind. You felt worthless, abandoned and unloved.
It pains me to watch, a brilliant boy, turned brilliant man never got to realize his full potential. The world was truly your oyster and it vanished as quick as the first high. Now each day is a battle with the monster, even a word can trigger the obsessive cravings. The drive to succeed is there but the monster also wants to keep you for himself. Keep trying, the monster will loosen the grip in time. one step, one task, one moment at a time.
I hardly know you anymore, but dear recovering addict, I have always loved you unconditionally, hoped for you and prayed for you, all despite how hard it has been.
I will continue to be the rock, the place you can turn unconditionally , the love may be different but it is there. The friendship may have changed but I count you as one of my closest. This is your journey, your recovery but you are not alone!
