I spent a little bit of time yesterday reading the news here on SG, this story among the several I'd read. Turns out I've read a couple of those books--Interview with the Vampire and Tropic of Cancer spring to mind--but the others? Nope.
So I was over at Deanna's this afternoon, and she's gathering stuff for a garage sale. Right on top of her...

Wow I suck! Except for Anne Rice I haven't read any of them. Though I have to agree with the writer. Where's the Marquis de Sade? Now his stuff I've read!

It's nice when your life can be summarized by emoticons! The whole work, sit and home, sleep and go back to work thing sounds very, very familiar...sadly.
I never thought of the whole power issue! Tis true, how far can the bear get when he needs extension cords? Of course, taking the toaster oven AWAY from the bear might be a bit more complicated!!!
You know, I was thinking the same thing about Goblin. He had kidney stones at one point (cheap cat food and an ignorant owner ) and I was wondering if he just kept the habit or if they were coming back. Hmm, a visit to the vet might be in order once again though he has been on special vet food since that time and it was supposed to keep this sort of thing from happening again. Oh well, the vets all know me by name now anyways considering my constant trips with Maya.

Good point. Look at that you are both a bear expert and a vet!

Hi
Ok, I know, it's been ages Life's been a little hectic and I haven't had much time to spend online at all lately. I started back on evening shift (hurray!) and oh, my God are there some lunatics living in my city. Just last night, I took 63 phone calls, bonded 13 people out of jail, wrote 7 reports (I was 3 behind when...

Oh your instincts were dead on. Unless you really like movies about unmotivated mumbling losers (which I somehow doubt you do )
I was hopeful. I thought "Hey, this movie can't be as stupid as the previews make it seem" I mean it has it's own cult following so I thought it was some sort of subtle, subversive comedy. Um...no. Actually, the previews don't do the stupidity on this movie justice.
Oh well. Live and learn I suppose.

reports reports reports! should just slap them really really REALLY ghard and save you the paper work...
Yay, I've got the weekend off...and narrowly escaped having to work 4 hours of overtime tonight
Hurray! I got my DVD!
(Interjections show excitement or emotion--they're usually set apart from a sentence by an exclamation point, or by a comma when the feeling's not as small...)
Now I'm going to go let it Schoolhouse Rock me right off to sleep

Super death computer a success!!! I'm going nowhere! Well, assuming the death part of super death computer doesn't come into play at some future point!

enjoy the dvd
Yes, I know, I suck. It's been weeks since I've updated. I have no life now that I'm on night shift and I have nothing to say
However!
I'm going back to evening shift on May 1. YAY!! *insert triumphant fanfare and much celebrating here*
Also, in completely unrelated news, tomorrow I'm going to buy this DVD

I understand the 'concept' of flowers but have yet to see them yet.
So, you had a Kia too? What kind? Is there something I should know about Kia's and cliffs? I might have just bought myself a death machine...which would be sad.

Hey babygirl! I was up north with my parents for Easter and then I had a class in Central CA for work and I got home yesterday and I'm working all weekend...with a sinus infection... I've been so unfortunatly busy, but in two weeks I get to visit my hunny...so that makes it all bettah!
I feel your pain about night shifts! Although you go off yours May 1st, I start mine...but I'm going to London, like I said, in May so I won't have to deal with so much of that...
How are you?! How's every little thing?

It's official--I have fallen off the face of the planet
Between a few computer troubles, and a few spring storms robbing me of power at inopportune moments, I just haven't spent much time online.
Also I didn't want to bore everyone with a non-update I haven't been doing much that doesn't involve "work" or "sleep" as a verb.
(That being said, the last few days...

Yay! I win!!! Sounds like you are one busy young lady!
But Easter's coming. Do they give you a day off to celebrate rabbits and chocolate? Oh...and the whole Jesus thing too.
Hum. Might be going to Hell now.

It's been a really quiet week--I've been shuffled off for a week of training, which has completely wrecked any progress I'd made on getting used to sleeping during the day and being up all night. I was asleep at 8:30 last night (completely accidental) and woke up at 2:45 am, for the love of God. So I set my alarm and went back to sleep...

it's hard getting used to night shifts.. especially if you have to keep changing from nights to days and repeat...

I realize that I am posting twice today. Even I'm sick of bad news, so I went out and found a stupid joke that made me laugh a little bit, and maybe it will make you laugh a little bit, too.

Thanks for the sweet words in my journal.

goblintcat:
It will get better but you have to grieve first. I mean really, you lost one of your best friends.
What helped me when I had to put one of my cats down was to tell myself that he had lived a full life and pretty much led the life of a spoiled house cat (much like yours I suspect). And in a strange way it was better to put him down (because I could sort of prepare myself for it) rather than think about the suffering he would have gone through and never knowing if this was the day I would come home and find out he had passed away.
I do promise it will get better with time but it's the whole time part that sucks the most.
Take your time, grieve and we'll all still be here when you feel up to chatting again!

Kitty update: Chez has his x-ray this morning--probably as I type this. The vet said she'd call me back within the next 45 minutes or so with the results. He's having a little trouble breathing today, which they warned me was probably going to happen, so he's had an injection to help...

Mentally, I'm better, but I think I got food poisoining today... The last thing I ate was a ham sandwich with mayo... the mayo must have gone bad: after eating it, shortly thereafter, I got a headache, stomach pain, dizziness... not a good seen.
Sorry to hear about your kitties! I was face with the situation of having to decide to put one of my Siamese down because he has swallowed something and needed a big operation. Fortunately, I decided to have him operated.

Oh my, I'm so sorry about your kitty. I lost a cat at the emergency vet a couple of years ago, so I know how difficult this must be for you. It's very tough to lose a good pet, but you also don't want it to suffer.
I don't know about the job. Basically, it's mine if I want it, but I just can't see myself selling cars (although the money is attractive.)
Thanks for the congrats. Yeah, I know...pretty scary that I'm going to be someone's dad, but I'm so excited!
