Finally, something about my job makes me feel like a professional. Two Mondays from now is our Teacher's Convention in King of Prussia and I'm pretty excited! It'll be an early and long day, but we get a goodie bag, free meals, and apparently they're a lot of fun. Staff from Goddard School's all over the area are supposed to attend. (I heard one school dresses alike, it's creepy.) Anyway, we all have to meet up at our school real early, then we follow each other to the hotel. We all need to check-in and register together by 8am, then the events begin.
7:30-8:30 am Continental Breakfast
8:30-10:30am What Works in the Classroom, Speaker Dick Gallagher
10:30-10:45am Light Morning Break
10:45-11:45am Break-out Session, Playground Safety
12-1pm Taste of Philly Lunch Buffet
1-2pm Break-out Session, Health and Safety
2:10-3:10pm Break-out Session, Disabilities
3:10-3:15pm Mid Afternoon Grab A Snack
3:15-4:15pm Break-out Session, Transistions
My memo I got ends there, I'm pretty sure the above schedule is tentative. It's not over until atleast 5, I'm sure of that much. I will be spending the majority of the day with the other Get Set aged teachers from the other schools. I'm really looking forward to the disabilities portion of the lecture. I'm bringing a notebook to take notes, but I'll probably invest in a little recorder before that day because there's a lot of information I want to retain. The children we'll be transitioning into our classroom over the next few months have various disabilities, plus a little girl we have right now is going undiagnosed thanks to her parents. If there were things I could say to parents and other teachers, professionally speaking, without losing my job, I would absolutely have a lot less pent up stress...
EDIT
Tomorrow is Fall Orientation for the Phi Theta Kappa Honour Society at my college, guess who was invited to be there!?
