well, where have i been...
madrid, spain. very nice and lovely weather. i was a bit surprised at how similar the landscape and architecture in spain was to that of mexico. i'd didn't want to be in the mindset that mexico=spain, but there were more similarities than i thought there would be. reminded me of what mexico might look like if the spainish had settled it peacefully, and also minus a few hundered years of being taken advantaged of by colonial and free trade interests.
i stayed with my friend's mom, who's also my friend, so i guess i could have just said friend. oh well. it was nice, mostly because i had a nice social base when i got there, and a place where i could really relax and chill out at instead of just a creeky bed in a hostel. part of me was at odd with her because she recently divorced her old husband for a man she met in spain in what seemed like a rather callous disregard for his feelings. but after talking with her one night, i found out that he (her old hubby) was planning to move back to germany without her once their kids were done with college, so it doesn't seem quite so one sided. the really great thing about madrid and the location of my friends house was that it was really central to a lot of cool museums and stuff. i loved the fact that i ended up spending more money on the metro than going to museums, of which i hit about an average of 2 and a half a day. she also let me borrow a copy of the 5th harry potter book, which i'll get to reading as soon as i finish catch 22.
the weekend after that i went to paris. the first real day i did all the typical shit, you know, the lourve, notre dame, and that big phallic tower thing. the next day i went to the modern art museum and that cemetary where oscre wilde and jim morrison are burried. i think that was my favorite part. i could have spent an entire day there, but i was only there for an hour before they started closing it down. later that night i went to the SG gather. yes, it was fun. very fun. i met a lot of very cool, very nice people. part of worried it was going to be a big grab ass fest, but people really seemed more interested in just talking and meeting people than trying to find a butt budy. i mean, i'm sure that happened, but it wasn't overbearing to the point where i felt uncomfotable. i have a lot of cool pics, but due to the fact that i only have access to a computer lab that is rigged so that you can't download or upload anything, i can't really post them. later that night i was robbed. care not to go into detail about it again.
i'm going to italy in a few weeks. i just need to get my flights figured out. erased the emails saying what time they were at. think i need to tweet my hostel reservation too so i can spend just a little more time in florance.
i really wish i had my own computer so that i could look at the photo sets. the one today from novella looks REALLY cute. sigh.
random memory: my freshman year in high school a teacher said that hitler was from germany. i yelled out that he was originally from austria. thus began my being stigmatized as 'that weird kid,' a reputation that inexplicable ended my senior year when people actually started talking to me and came to like the fact that i pretty much did what i wanted and didn't care what everyone else thought. i was even supposed to be prom king my senior year, but i asked not to be a part of it after i found out i was in the running. strangely enough, my parents were really pissed at me. i guess that's more than just one random memory. oh well.

you're right about the meetup. but most of all of us, we met each other for the first time so the idea was not to grab ass or whatever, just talk and get to know each other a little more. a sort of continuation of sgland in the real world.
it was nice to meet you though we didn't talk very much.
