The latest episode of the new series of 'Doctor Who' was great, as you would expect from the pen of Mark Gatiss. If you are not familiar with his name, he is also an actor, who plays Sherlock Holmes' brother Mycroft in 'Sherlock'. Or you might remember him as one of the 'League Of Gentlemen', usually under tons of prosthetics, or, most famously, as the cursed, and lethal vet, Doctor Chinnery. His new 'Doctor Who' episode was witty and clever, and featured possibly the rudest gag ever on the show. I will just say 'Errol Flynn', so as not to spoil it. Lots of references to things like: Ice Warriors, Mini-Scopes (see the 1973 story 'Carnival Of Monsters'), a gold circuit board that looked very similar to the stone ones used by Pyroviles, a great scenery chewing turn from Ben Miller (Primeval), and a great visual gag on a display screen showing various Robins Hood - a shot of Patrick Troughton as Robin Hood. Patrick Troughton, of course (my favourite Doctor, by the way), played the second incarnation of the Doctor from 1966 to 1969. Matt Smith based his portrayal of the Doctor on him, and followed advice given by Patrick Troughton, in an old interview, to do three years. This episode was great.
