Ahhhh the one holiday every year that I look forward to. It's never an easy one as every year the group seems to dwindle down smaller and smaller. We began as a large group, half were all of my family, and the other half wayward friends of my great aunt's who were here as either foreigners or people who just didn't have any family here. When I was little I remember a house with almost 50 people full for a huge dinner. I loved those times where everyone who was important to you was all in one place. That's what the holiday season is about to me. I couldn't care less about presents and what not. I just love taking some time to be with the people that matter in my life.
Every year I say a little something to myself while everyone is doing something else. And that is that I know he's with me celebrating in some capacity too, but just wishing my Dad a Merry Christmas. He was always my rock, my bestfriend. No matter how long he's been gone it hasn't gotten any easier, but I know how to deal with things much better than in the past. It just gives me a reminder every year thinking about him, that I need to appreciate every day that I have, and to let everyone around me know that I love them as often as I can. Also to continue chasing my dreams no matter what that means.
For me, it has always meant working within the hockey world in some capacity. I'm on that right track but I need to work harder to achieve my goals and I'm understanding that more every day. Working for my hometown team the last 4 and a half years has been the most amazing experience I've had in my life. That journey began 2 weeks after the end of a 3 and a half year relationship and something that had progressed to an engagement. I didn't think anything could possibly go my way, but your hard work pays off. It really does. I don't know what my now bosses saw in me the day of my original interview, but I'm thankful they did. Because it has changed my life.
Just some random late night thinking before I head to bed. Love you all for making it this far into my post haha. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all the lovely SG members out there! You are all always welcomed to my home for the holidays :)
