Oh my I have been busy.
I am acutely aware of how un-anonymous this profile is since I have my face plastered all over it. This is the reason I'm not going to bitch about work, even though I really really really want to.
All I will say is that this week was challenging, and I'm tired of many things with management. There is a lack of understanding, and a lack of appreciation towards the people who move mountains to make things happen for us. I think its the lack of appreciation that really angers me.
I had to take a call yesterday from one of our suppliers who was quite pissed at us, and rightly so. I decided just to be honest with him, even though it meant I wasn't completely loyal to my employer. I'm never sure what the right balance is, honesty or loyalty - I just try and remember that I won't always be working where I am, and I'd like to use my contacts down the road, so at the end of the day I guess my personal integrity is more important than my loyalty.
This week I was a bit hysterical with the managing director of the company. Obviously the cracks were starting to show in my carefully crafted facade - I hate when people are emotional at work, and I make a point not to be, but I really couldn't stand it at that moment. I recognize that I could have handled that outburst a bit better, but I think I made my point. He certainly stopped and listened anyway - of course its not every day I get that angry.
This update has been mostly about work as this is what has occupied me for most of the last week and a bit. I'm also trying to work through all of the above...other than that I started and finished my christmas shopping this morning (thank god for yorkdale mall which seems to have something for everyone). My grandmother's surgery went well, and I have spent some time at the hospital and with my aunt who is in town. She told me yesterday that she has decided to pass all of her good jewelry to me when she dies - a bit morbid, but I was touched because I know how much that gesture means to her.
Last night we went to the Matt Good concert and it was the best concert I've ever been to. I was riveted the entire 2 hours.
