I've been doing a lot of thinking lately, I need to put it down but the thing with me is that for my mind to work properly my physical environment needs to be un-cluttered. I need to do a good cleaning this afternoon.
Two things: I've been listening to k-os this weekend, and I was saying to S this afternoon that his music really symbolizes a lot about Toronto culture that I love. I saw Kev on wednesday night, and driving back home from the west end though the city I was reminded of how much I love Toronto. When I went to Chicago last year I fell in love with the city - it is a beautiful city, it really is - but when we were flying over Toronto coming in and I saw all the city lights, and we touched down and drove home through the city, it was one of the best feelings ever to be home. And I suppose that's it - Toronto is my home, and I don't want it any other way. I was going somewhere with this, but it has escaped me. Anyway, I really Joyful Rebellion - it has the summer feel that I love, but unlike Sublime and Marley it has a more "homegrown" feel to it, and that feels very comfortable right now.
And I guess that is part of where I was going now that I think about it.....I'm in a phase due to recent circumstances where the comforts of home are exactly what I need, and with that the comfort of good friends and the arms of the person I love.
And I am so incredibly lucky to have the people in my life that I do!
I believe this is also part of my reason for having to let certain friendships stagnate for the time being, whereas a few weeks earlier I may have been more...........understanding.
______________
Things I am looking forward to:
1. Cuba in ONE MONTH
2. The new Marketing Assistant starting TOMORROW
3. Life in general
4. Acceptance of the things I cannot change
Another life lesson: It seems that every year there is one event that happens that shows me something I'm missing. Last year it was losing my license for a period of time which taught me to slow down and enjoy the journey. This year I believe it is Steph's death - my lesson is to live as if I may die tomorrow.
