Today has been pretty good. I woke up with snow everywhere, and it took me awhile to get to work, but winter happens. I have some issues to work out financially, but that is neither here nor there and will work itself out. I found out my colleague used to work for MAC and still has connections (yay free makeup). Tonight will be the best dinner ever: Lick's, beer, lava chocolate cake and cheesecake (both of which I made and are awesome), and my father's pizza if I have room left. Is it weird I'm looking forward to going home tonight for the simple fact that I will have a feast? I do love food....
I got an email from a friend who I parted ways with late last year, wishing me a happy birthday. It was odd to hear from him - thought he had been banned from contacting me by an insecure girlfriend. Such is life I suppose.
Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes!
Now onto something not so nice:
One thing has become clear to me: the people who you can trust are few and far between. I don't expect everyone to hold hands and sing kumbaya, I understand everyone has an agenda and that money has to be made.....but I expect more from people. Maybe that's the problem. I think what pisses me off the most is when I have no choice but to become involved - as with everything there are certain unwritten rules: you either play the game, or you don't and bad things happen. I have no choice but to reciprocate the favour - no choice but to lie in this case - and I'm not sure this is something I will ever be 100% comfortable with.
And end on a high note:
The dance this term is challenging! Whereas last term I felt bored and really did nothing outside of what we did in class, this term I will definitely have to devote a significant amount of time to perfecting the dance. It will look beautiful when it all comes together though.
It is amazing how this type of dance in particular makes me aware of my body - I did jazz, tap, and ballet as a child, but none of those even compare to how this feels. It feels liberating definitely, and aside from the social reasons why that could be (think women/sex/oppression/patriarchy/rebellion), my body feels meant to move in the way it does when I am dancing.
Things I am looking forward to:
- My macbook
- Dinner tonight
Ashley fact: I rarely wear matching socks.
