The last few days have been an absolute blast..
The birthday party was just as enjoyable as the previous night at Satellite. With the added bonus of running into two friends I have not seen in some time, Shaun in well over a year and the other, Tonya, who I have seen more recently. Tonya and I have a peculiar relationship. I have had a off and on crush over her for the past five years. She was the only person to really tempt me whilst I was with Sadra. And I always run into her just at the moment I need to. We have so much in common it begins to become disturbing at times. I feel like she is my little sister, but have occasional feelings towards her that I would not associate with family, or at least so I hope.
The Guinness cake was a brilliant success and well appreciated by all.
Friday night was a bit more quiet, but I did have the great enjoyment of seeing The Wanteds. A solo gentleman from Portland who puts on a very energetic and fun show. There was a large bit of frustration thrown into the mix on Friday, as my main data drive at home has become corrupted. I am in the process of attempting to salvage anything off of it. Important to me in that it is where I have stored all of my photos for the last five years along with all of my personal video project archives and a great deal of replaceable other materials. It looks as though I should be able to salvage some of the drive if not all of it though, a great relief by no small means.
Saturday was, if possible, even more splendid that the previous three. I took Sam bowling and then down to the arcade for a rematch, or twenty, at SNK vs. Capcom. I remain the champion, but it was not so simple this time. AS the weather was gorgeous I then took him to the park where we spent a good hour flying dual line kites together. I think he thought I was quite odd the first time I mentioned doing so, but from the smile on his face, I do not think that will be the case again. That evening I took, my malnourished body (only one meal in the last 48 hours at that point) down to Napper Tandy''s to spend some time with Dr. Chaos and to see his celtic band perform once again. Miss Tonya joined us moments before he went on stage and I felt a bit bad as we conversed through the vast majority of their set. I'm sorry my friend, but the company of a beautiful lady, two pints of Guinness and a shared glass of Red Breast is tough for anyone to overcome.
After leaving the pub I grabbed a few cheap burgers on my way home to refuel before joining Tonya and her equally attractive friend, Amanda, at a house party of larger proportions than I have experienced in ages. I am running out of superlatives, but the conversations, drinks and company were far from unappreciated. I came home, driving alongside the two ladies and blaring "Thousands Are Sailing" as loud as my speakers would go, singing along with them between cars.
Today has been much more relaxed, with some eBay browsing, studying and dinner at my parents. Tomorrow dad leaves for his first two weeks at his new job. For the next few months he is going to be working there for two weeks and returning here for one. Not the best of situations, but much better than moving there directly on his own and jumping back here for a weekend when he can manage.
I have heard nothing back from Jamie, but Kristen has said that she might make a small intervention in my favour when she has the opportunity. Between that and Tonya's very direct questioning of my absolution of Sadra, things are looking up for you humble narrator.
And as I type my recovery program is transferring my files from the bad drive to a new one.
FUCK YEAH
