I've just been down to the funfair!!!
As part of the Battle of the Flowers celebrations we have a little fun fair pitch up and entertain us with their dodgy rides and rigged "games of skill". Unfortunately, I didn't realise it has been in Jersey since 29 July and, as it closes tomorrow, I was very lucky to go. I would have been a little miffed if I had missed it this year. I really should start buying the Jersey Evening Post (our local newspaper, similar to the London Evening Standard or the Ohio Repository) coz I keep missing out on fun events
I only really had the intention of spending a short period playing Crown and Anchor, which is fun and doesn't make me throw up like the Waltzer does
For those of you who don't know what it is, Crown and Anchor is a dice based game where you can win money. You have a large table divided in to six squares; each square has one picture of either a crown, anchor, heart, diamond, spade or club. The bloke behind the table has three dice each with the number 1 to 6 replaced with one of the aforementioned symbols. Before he rolls the die you have to guess what will come up and you put your money on the corresponding symbol - if one dice matches you double your money, if two die match you get three time your money back etc etc. If you guess the wrong symbol the you lose your stake.
It's actually less compicated than I have just described
As it was raining I was the only person at the table (in fact, he was just about to pack up and go home because he had had no one playing all day) and the bloke graciously allowed me to have a flutter.....
.....and with 15 minutes I had fleeced him for 25 (about US$50)
Yay me! It was kinda funny because I decided to quit whle I was ahead so I smiled and thanked him; as I left he muttered a carnie grumble of some sort and laboured a smile/sneer through his broken, tobacco-stained teeth.
So, now I am back home and wrapped in a snuggly bath robe, my rain soaked clothes are hanging up in the kitchen. I am content.
I've actually lost my train of thought because I am still a little tired from yesterday's impromptu drinkies. I didn't get home until 1:30 and I missed the meteor shower
So yeh, ummm, I don't know. If this journal makes sense then great, if not then I apologise and will edit it for spelling and grammar tomorrow. I am going to dry off and go to bed in a mo.
Nighty night
