It's been a good weekend. Apart from a generaly all round feeling of goodness (which is always a bad sign because it always preceeds something horrible and terrible) I went shooting today, for the first time this year.
It was good because shooting a very loud pistol makes me feel like a man grrrrrrrrrr, yet also resulted in a bizarre conversation I had with one of the range wardens.
There has, it transpires, been a bit of negative press in the Jersey Evening Post over the last two days about the slack gun laws over here. Which is kind of fair enough - someone with 'emotional issues' shouldn't normally be allowed to get a gun licence, a .45 hand gun and 1,000 rounds of ammo without even being checked out by the police.
Strangely, though, the arguement in the defence of the Jersey Pistol Club, offered by one if it's senior members, was this:-
"Shooting is infinitely safer than cricket. In cricket, you are stood in front of a guy throwing a wooden ball directly at you at 100 miles an hour. In shooting, the bullets are always fired away from you so no one will ever get hurt".
So remember kids, guns are good and cricket bats are bad.

I have very little gossip really. The people who it'd make any sense to already know about it so.. yeh.
How about you?
