Well two nights ago someone purchased for me, and forced me to watch Casino Royale. Now for a true fan of Fleming's Bond, such as myself, this was sheer torture. Mental torture of course, not quite like being hit in the balls by a heavy object, but very close. So since journals are for ranting, I think I'll rant a little to vent.
It's most depressing because I was so excited when I found out they were going to make Casino Royale into a movie, then the bullshit started of course. It's just too bad because it could have been a good movie if they hadn't done everything wrong. If I were to go and list everything they did wrong I'd be here all night, but there'd be no point in that anyway. They did what they wanted to do though, they made a movie that brought in a large crowd of people that liked the movie, including people who may have never watched a Bond movie, and the fanboys/fangirls of course. So they made a fair amount of money, which of course is what the business is all about, but they don't give a damn that they alienated all the true fans at the same time. I must admit that the film was slightly less bad than I pected, but that's probably because I was expecting something slightly to the right of Code Name: The Cleaner. Also for a brief ten minutes towards the end they did follow the book more closely than any Bond film since Thunderball. But this very slight plus can't negate the actor they chose and every other bonehead choice they made. I could have almost dealt with that ugly, short, blond twit if they had at least dyed his hair and maybe put big platforms in his shoes.
At least now I can say that this man is the worst official Bond yet, and that I did not enjoy the movie, without having someone say, "At least watch the movie first."
My new long term goal in life is to outlive Crag-face's contract, pray Barbara dies in a fire, and hope that the studio/producers have enough sense to hire the right man for the job next time. Of course now they're going to waste all the good books and short story premises on Crag-face.
Oh, and if anyone reading this happens to disagree with me I'll thank you kindly not to comment, inasmuch I have no desire to argue with anyone that obviously has no idea what they're talking about.
