The tomatoes this year are in clay pots buried in the earth. I should have buried them a little deeper, probably, 'cause I'm worried too much clay is above ground and will bake but I'll try to keep a close eye on them. I was going to use straw bales but straw is so messy. I figure this way, I protect the plants from grubs and cutworms and, with the bottom broken out of the pots, drainage and root growth should be optimum.
