I was in such a good mood yesterday, I actually got 8 hours sleep it was freeking amazing. I just can't believe how difficult it was to get out of bed at 7am with the sun up already, and I'm thinking that I've broken the cycle and I'll sleep well for a while. No luck, I've been up all night again, the sun is rising and my head is pounding from not sleeping. Fuck, fuck, fuck I can't keep taking sleeping tablets I wake up feeling worse than if I go without sleep.
A weird subject came up yesterday, we were sitting around watching a movie called "Stander" a true story about a South African policeman in the aparthied era, who took to robing banks and died needlessly in Miami Florida after escaping South Africa and getting away with it. The lilly is a little gilded towards the political slant in the movie which takes on a really strange kind of anti-aparthied reasoning for his behaviour, which is bullshit as far as I'm concerned, having lived through it myself as a fighting conscript for four years in Angola, with an counter insugency regiment. The previous government had mastered indoctrination and this began at a very early age in South Africa, it was subtle and insidous and un-escapable, but I digress and we don't really want to go down that road anyway.
What came up was a discussion about getting away with it, if you could, pull a heist, smuggle a shipment of any drug or murder somebody and get away with it, would you? It probibly is a question of ethics, but who's ethics? what about a Bosnian Serbs, or Osamas, or some Chechnian rebels, or Standers ethics for that matter and just how much influence does the government or powers that be influence those ethics? The genocide that has taken place in many countries in Africa is state sponsored and if you don't believe that take a good hard look at what is happening in Sudan's Dafour region this very minute.
So the whole thing really comes down to ethics and freedom, so my question to you guys is.
If you could get away with doing something illegal, would you do it? what would you do? and why?
Just look at all that crap, I really need to sleep.
