Hey everyone, I've spent the past day or so catching up after not really having time to check in during much of the summer. Since switching to writing almost-full-time, I've been spending my summers working in the UK for about 12 weeks each year at a university. It's really great work, teaching international students, but it means I'm away from my wife, cats and home for a loooong time, which can be pretty tough.
The work is intense, too, so I don't have much time to interact here on SG or socials.
Anyway, the good thing is, after the long summer, I brought my car back to Portugal via Spain on the ferry to Santander, then spent my wedding anniversary (where did seven years go?!š±) in San Sebastian - a city in northern Spain I've wanted to visit for a long time. It didn't disappoint on the views, or the food.
After the trip back, which also took in the Portuguese mountains of Serra da Estrela, I had a few days here to reunite with my cats and do laundry before heading to the Algarve region of Portugal for my actual holiday with my best buddy and his wife. We spent 5 days around Vilamoura, then had a couple nights at an isolated hotel on the Alqueva lake near Spain's Extremadura, before a couple nights in Lisbon before they flew home.
But now, as of yesterday, I'm back to work - teaching English a few hours a week and writing the rest of the time. I have a new book I want to finish editing and get out by the end of the year and another I need to submit to some publishing houses for a prospective release next year. So, it's busy busy. But I still expect to have a bit more time to be around here.
Oh, and finally, if you want to win a signed copy of my most recent book, you can enter a giveaway, featuring my cats, on instagram here or on Twitter here.
Anyway, looking forward to having a little time with the SG community daily for the next few months! š¤©
Happy autumn, friends! š
