Okay, because I was asked to do this...
A): Step 1: Open your MP3 player.
Step 2: Put all of your music on random.
Step 3: Write down the first 20 songs it plays, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 4: Add what each song makes you think of after you type the list of songs.
1, Sigur Ros - Duet
Its a live track, simple and amazing, its mostly vocals, makes me think of something sad and solem, but also makes me think of a Chior walking down the center of a long cathedrell.
2, Frank Sinatra - Luck Be a Lady Tonight
Not the best by him, makes me think of all those images you see of the 50s in the US, where the men were Gentlemen, wore suits and Panama hats, where the women were elegant, and all the old cars, the image of driving up one of the roads into old Chicago
3, Eric Clapton and George Harrison - While My Guitar Gentley Weeps (live)
Great song, not as brilliant as the version that sees Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Prince covering which has some amazing guitar work from Prince on it. All I think of is a stage, seeing a guitar being played in a way that it even makes the gods cry, brings nothing else to mind, no other images either, its one of those songs where its just grounded in the song
4, Sunna - Guinea Pig People
B-Side to the brilliant Power Struggle, Dark alleys, people running jumping off things like trash bins, the great big huge containers, looking off their faces, swinging lights not provding adiquate illumination.
5, In Flames - Man Made God
A friend sent me this track, reminds me of Metallica Showboating, twiddly twiddly guitars, makes me think of all those metel cliches, a motorbike racing down roads, jumping into the ocean, but mainly racing a big Harley type motorbike. It's so much like Metallica, its untrue.
6, Red Hot Chilli Pepers - Give It Away
Reminds me of the time they played this at Woodstock in 94 or 96, or whenever it was, they were dressed as giant lightbulbs, with huge working bulbs on their heads, just makes me think of dancing.
7, Stereophonics - Don't Let Me Down
Not a bad cover, they've done better live stuff, Old 'Phonics was the best, Lennon is a legend though. Makes me think of close friends, times I spent camping with some of them, hugging the special few that I will actually hug, spending time with those who I care about and are important to me.
8, Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet With Butterfly Wings
People sat in corridors, and rooms, waiting, then solitary figure in a room smashing everything up, pulling down the walls, throwing a guitar at the wall when the song hits its kick, thats the imagary I get listening to this.
Room101
9, Prince - Purple Rain
Such an amazing song, beautful.
It's just the feeling of sadness, loss, the feeling that if you could hold someone, just for that one night, everything would be alright.
10, Mushroomhead - World Of The LSD User
just a wierd twisted take on a school info vid you may get one some subject, just a strange grey blue, with the face of a guy who's never had sex or stepped out of his house since birth.
11, Soulwax - Too Many DJ's
Dancing on the dancefloor, swinging the guitar about as you rock out, a sence of being untouchable, nothing can stop you, but all you want to do is rock out on the dance floor, nothing else is important, there is nothing else in the world.
12, Sigur Ros - Untitled #4 (Njsnavlin)
Wieghtlessness, spiraling, but falling slowly, drifting, infinate space, peace and tranquility, but also the sadness of lonliness
13, Ozzy Osborne - Diary Of A Madman
One of the few songs by him I love. traveling through corridors, where what wall there is, is painted white, but bars in spaces, not just doors, but fronts, like cells, with that clinically clean light, no way out, just corridor upon corridor of the same.
14, Linkin Park - Faint
fighting, kicking against the wall, dancing, just working out the energy
15, Kasabian - Reason Is Treason (original version/secret track version)
dark clubs, rave lights, standing infront of the tools of government, riot-police, or military lines, egging them on, having them 'bring it' if they think they can, just defiance, just standing up against everything
16, Korn - Falling Away From Me (Live)
Another dancing song, one that brings up more images of corridors, more like empty school corridors for this though
17, Sigur Ros - Svefn-g-englar
Floating, flying, something pure, beautiful, magical, soaring, a feeling of rebirth, . This is such an amazing song, the soaring guitar work sends shivers down my spine every time, the long powerful sounds that are achived from him playing his guitar with a bow never fail to make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and go down my spine.
18, Funeral For A Friend - History
Just all the things that have gone right in life, the moments of happiness.
19, Boards Of Canada - Bocuma
In a boat, out in a calm sea, birds flying overhead
20, Nirvana - Oh The Guilt
Reminds me of the Reading Performance I have on audio cassette, this was put on the tape at the end of their performance, it was one of those songs I just wanted on hard copy. Kurt, whatelse comes to mind? Just Kurt, it can only be Kurt that comes to mind for this.
