Today at work, I had a lady come in who was in desperate need of help. I work in a retail pharmacy, but this twenty year old girl was lost in more ways than one. She initially asked me for directions. She was looking for an local apartment building where she was staying, but she wasn't sure where it was. At fisrt, I thought she was trying to find a friend or someone she knew. But then she expressed that she was tired, and wanted to ly down where her stuff was. So at this point, I was starting to wonder what was really going on. I offered to call someone for her, but she told me that she didn't have anyone to call. Throughout a lengthy conversation I was able to determine that she had taken some psyche meds. I was then concerned that she took too much. I tried to get as much information from her without making her seemed threatened. I asked her to write down her birthday and full name, so that I could look and see if she was in my pharmacy's database. Instead, she wrote, "I love you. I'm sorry for everything." She then started to write down the names of the people she wanted me to tell this to. At this point, I started to signal my coworkers to call for help. The police arrived shortly after, and they were able to convince her to go with them to a local mental hospital. She should be alright tonight. Hopefully they can help her get the help she needs.
It's a shame how we will never see how some things are to end. But then again, maybe that is for the best.
