after last weekend's camping adventure, as we were playing guitars around the fire, and jumping cliffs
my love of mid 90's punk was rewakened,
i knew all these songs yet didn't know how to play them.
so this week i'm on a mission to learn as many as i can fit into my cranium.
mid 90's seems like a vague genre, but specifically i'm talking about bands like
propaghandi
lagwagon
millencollin
good riddance
ten foot pole
you know the punk 0 rama/ fat music for fat people songs that have been in (some of) our heads for the last decade.
it was a great time period for punk music, barely anyone knew the songs, but the ones who did took it to heart.
internet was not very popular, so you couldn't just go home and download the song you heard at your friends house.
you either had to own it, or your friend did,
or if you were lucky enough, the local college radio would have a bi weekly 2 hr punk show.
which i made lots of tape cassetes out of, i still have at least 3-4 of those lying around. ahhhhh remember that,
waiting for that song to play then hitting the record button???
anyhoo
what were your fav's from then, i'm trying to expand my repertoire.
so..the songs i learned how to play (guitar) just last night;
know it all- lagwagon
may 16th- lagwagon
anti manifesto- propaghandi
no cigar- millencollin
united cigar-good riddance
not bad for an hour's worth of 'studying'
[edit]
right after writing this i find out that ten foot pole is in town tonite, and strung out is here next month.
