I haven't written a Blog Homework for a long time due to a busy exhausting travel and work schedule over the last two and have months. When I saw one for 'Have you ever been to a haunted place?' I thought it was time to do one on this one.
Back in late September, I had plans to visit Quebec City turn into a trip to Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario. While getting lost on the way to Niagra Falls, I went to check out The Screaming Tunnel. It's a small limestone tunnel that was constructed in the early 1800s. It was at one point part of the Grand Trunk Railway lines now the Canadian National Railways. Located in the Northwest corner of Niagra Falls, Ontario, Canada.
Local legends state that the tunnel is haunted by the ghost of a young girl who escaped a nearby burning farm building with her clothes ablaze. She died within the walls of the tunnel. There are several variants of this that exist locally. There's one version where the girl set on fire by her enraged father after he loses custody of his children after a nasty divorce. Another tells of a young girl being raped inside the tunnel and her body burned to prevent any evidence from being found. All versions of these legends of the girl scream filling up the tunnel as she was burning to death. David Cronenberg used the site to do the film adaptation of Stephen King's "The Dead Zone."
There's a link that does tours and has blogged about it more than I have mentioned here in my blog post.

I'm also going to share some video and a pic I took that I posted to my Instagram account to see what I see when I explored it.

I only explored it during the daytime, but I do hope I get the chance to see it again at night to see if the experience will be different. If the opportunity comes where I can explore it at night, I'll try to check it out again and share the experience with whoever wants to see what I document.
