Holy shit... I just got out of my ASME conference for today and I am feeling very disillusioned right now.
I joined ASME because I thought that it would be good for me become a better mechanical engineer, to help me find work, and let me connect with other people in my desired profession. Right now I am ready to drop it all because it seems that I (being a young engineer) am not wanted here. Most of the people at this conference are stogy (sp?) old men. Only about 10 percent of people here are under 30. About 70 percent are over 50. They keep talking about how they want to reach "young engineers" but from the reactions I saw from a comment ripping on "young engineers" they don't want them here. Whatever you fucking old farts!
*deep breath*
Anyway the conference was pretty damn boring. It got better when the interactive stuff started (a Q & A session and a neat electronic voting session) but I couldn't help but think about hanging out with you guys, getting on a computer to check out SG, and thinking about the show tomorrow in tacoma and if I am going to make it. *crosses finger*
It's nice to have the weekend comped by ASME though! I'm off to eat dinner soon! Mmmmm, expensive Lobster sounds good...

Talent should always shine through. Old fuckers are just afraid that the new blood may be more qualified.
