Wow, what a berserk couple of weeks I've had! On Sat 13th Nov, I seem to have undertaken a nasty accident. I woke up on the Sunday afternoon in A&E of Cardiff Hospital, completely unaware of where I was. I was told that on the Sat evening I had been found unconscious in a street, lying in a pool of blood.
Somehow I had smashed my head on the ground, giving myself 4 skull fractures and some serious internal bleeding. I was asked if I had any idea what happened. I had none, and still have no idea what happened to me! The docs couldn't work out whether I'd fallen, or been attacked, yet I didn't have any other bruises or injuries, luckily!
I had to stay in hospital for 8 days, to allow the bleeding inside my head to work its way out. I spent most of those 8 days either asleep or in various hallucinations and fevers! Very scary!
My family and friends were incredible, popping in to see me every day, to make sure I was ok, bring me grapes, pyjamas and clean me up as I had no control over various parts of my body!
I've now been home for 2 days and am slowly trying to get used to the way my brain is currently working! I can think clearly, but trying to speak those thoughts is another game altogether! I have to return to hospital in 2 weeks for the first of many check ups to see how my brain is reorganising itself and whether I will need any assistance in speech and language! It also seems that the accident has caused me to go quite severely deaf! I no longer have any hearing in my right ear and my left has a huge amount of tinnitus and I can barely hear what people are saying, I'm hoping this will sort itself out as I get better, but, wow! What a fortnight!
2 months off work to cope with it too...wahoo!
