Last week saw the end of a community arts project I've been working on for a few months. I'm sad it's finished but hope it will open a few doors to more community arts projects. I had an amazing time working with an awesome team of people.
I was working behind the scenes of an out door performance celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Welsh Dragon being included on the national flag
The performance involved a battle between 2 tribes of dragons, 1 white, 1 red, through street performance and dance. the performance concludes with the uniting of the 2 dragon tribes.
My role was behind the scenes; ensuring all cast were in costume and ready for the performance, making any adjustments necessary to the costumes, helping with face and body painting and helping to make the costumes themselves:
Of course i didn't get left out and was suitably painted by one of the cast:
I've also been able to dedicate some more free time to producing my graphic novel, I'd gotten quite behind in recent months, the pressures of work and real life affording me little spare time to indulge in my favourite past time. My printer is out of action at the moment so will have to wait to scan anything in, but I'm really pleased with the results so far.
I watched Valhalla Rising the other day, and thoroughly enjoyed it, I don't want to give much away other than the atmosphere of the film reminded me of Apocalypse Now or The Thin Red Line, but with Vikings.
