I had a friend asked me yesterday why I had my suspension hook necklace on. originally I had it on so that I could carry a ring somewhere. that was a week ago, and I could have just put the necklace away.

It got me thinking "why DO I have it on? What does this necklace mean to me?" I put the necklace on without really even thinking. I was upset earlier that night, but just before I put it on I was fine. I felt better with it around my neck.

So many ppl who see the hook and ask why I have it only think of the physical aspect of the body suspension. It piercing skin, the pain, skin moving away from flesh, the blood.
I don't see any of that. I think of determination, faith, strength. I think of if I can do that (something that so few would even consider trying) I can do anything. This was not a "hoist me up Scotty" suspension. I had to lift my feet up to get off the ground, a lot harder then it sounds. This was no endorphin high for me. this was a battle I won.

and that's what this hook around my neck means to me. I'm thankful for all the pain and emotional suffering I've been through in my life, because with out it I wouldn't be the man I am today.
