Well the past couple of weeks have been hecktic as all hell, I have been leaving the house at 5:30 am and getting home at 7:00 pm. Hopefully here pretty quick this house will sell and I can get my butt back out on the road again. I think im going to run down around corpus christi texas and see how I like the area, if I do ill put down some roots there and buy some land where I can setup shop.
When I get out running again I will most likely be pulling the routes that I used to haul pretty hot and heavy on, so I will be seeing quite a bit of Chicago land, Texas, Georgia, Pensilvania and other places around. And it will be nice getting to hang out with all my buds who I havent seen in a while.
In other news I took the boat up to the lake today. The story behind me getting this boat is this, my grandfather built it in 1958 from a set of plans he purchased. It is a 18 foot cabin cruiser, with a vee birth and a nice little cabin on it. Grandpa passed away in 1995, and since then the boat has just sat behind my grandmas house, my uncles took it out a couple of times, but never really did much with it.
About 2 years ago my uncle went over, got it all cleaned up and tuned up and we got it out once, and since then it has sat. Well I decided that I wanted to get it out, and really I didnt have anything to remember grandpa by really so talking to grandma about it, she agreed to let me have the boat.
Today I drug the boat to the lake after putting fresh gas in it and rebuilding the lower unit because it was leaking. I launced the boat and idled out, then made it about half way acrost the lake before the engine quit. The wind had kicked up really hard, I tossed the anchor so I could work on the engine, and within 10 minutes the wind had blown me up on the shore draging the anchor the whole way. The boat wound up beached on the shore, and I had to get help to get it shoved off again, then had to push it along the shore line over half a mile back to the boat ram. The only saving grace was that the blazer is lifted so I was able to back really far into the water with out getting it too wet and the boat floated right onto the trailer.
So I drug the boat back to town, went over and talked to my friend john, and he sugjested that I put the engine in a trash can full of water then I could tune it (boat engines pick up thier cooling water out of the lake, so putting the lower unit in a trash can full of water keeps it from burning up) I was able to tune it up and get it right again. I think when my little brothers were playing in the boat they turned the knobs on the front of the motor that adjust the fuel air mixture. I also had to clean up the plugs cause they fouled out. Now it seems to be running well. We will see, I am thinking about pulling it back to the lake tomorrow.
How is everyone elses weekend going?

A lot of drivers have negative things to say about the auto-shift but I have to tell ya... I love it. It may be "tedious" going up and down hills in places like WV but when I thought about what I said it almost seemed stupid. I set the cruise, turn on the engine brake and it takes care of the rest. If it has to drop to 9,8.7 whatever while climbing, it does so itself and I don't have to touch anything. When I crest and begin to descend I can move the paddle into "L" and that'll hold it back into 9th on the way down so I rarely have to touch the brakes. So in retrospect I suppose I should shut the fuck up about it since that's pretty darn easy.
If it were my truck, I'd get myself an APU. But for the time being driving theirs... I'm just going to idle. Or send them my bills for Idle-Aire locations.
