Hey ^_^
DnD tonight!!!! It was awesome (even though its 4e)! We're playing in Dark Sun (I actually really like the setting!!!), I'm playing the Leader, a Warlord (Elf). The basic gist of my character is that he's an old, grizzled trainer of gladiators, but he has a scholarly bent to him, so he's always giving advice on how to attack, strategy, etc. I built him to NEVER make an attack or damage roll (he's the much-lauded "Lazy Warlord" build if anyone is familiar with the WOTC boards). He's fun to play; I get to focus on strategy and i never have to feel bad about botching a roll. The party make-up is 2H weapon Fighter (Mull), a Swarm Druid (Elf), a Bow Ranger (also Elf), and a Monk (Thi-Kreen), so there are lots of people to grant basic attacks to.
The first fight of the evening is cake...against these two large-sized spiders with these crystal web things...they went down quick, with no problems. OH! I did "have to" make an attack roll (boooo); an opportunity attack with the whip with which I am not proficient, and I hit! AWESOME!
The second fight was tough(ish). Hostage rescue against lots of minions and 3 level 3 soldiers (we were level 2 at this time). The monk jumps in and "Opens the Gates of Battle", does HUGE damage on the surprise round, but gets swarmed by the Soldiers. He goes down to -8 (ouch) in one round (double ouch). His initiative is RIGHT before all the mobs though...and I'm...somewhere at the beginning of the initiative order (YAY for rolling a 17!). Realizing that the monk and I both have an Action Point, and daily, and that if I heal him, he'd start at 0 then get his surge + d6, I decide to delay till before the monk, heal him up, and then both of us "nova"; blowing our Action Points and dailies to get one burst of damage before the monk (likely) goes down again. I do so, and the results are awesome. The monk had a few AOE powers (including his daily and an at will) and he uses them to great effect, killing at least two monster. The next round he's down on the floor (-2 this time) again, but he dealt nearly 200 damage in one round (and I healed him back up again, so its was all good). I had a BLAST in this fight, in part because I made one of the other players rather awesome. AND!!! We leveled!!!
Then I went to the Christmas part at work. It was at one of the local bars, probably my least favorite of the ones I've been too; it tries to be a "dance club" for college people (of which there are many in this town)...always seems too loud and too full of people grinding up against one another. Really when you get down to it, I prefer a "pub" atmosphere, somewhere where you can sit down and actually talk to one another....
I was seriously uncomfortable...even after a couple of drinks (on a side note: I don't really care for Jack Daniel's...I know some people love it, but I really prefer other whiskeys)...I guess I just couldn't relax. Maybe it was my mildly introverted nature...maybe it was the fact that I'd much rather be talking with people instead of being shouted at above the thumping beat...maybe its recognizing that other people there just didn't seem to have that problem. I left after two drinks (thankfully including some blessed gin ((Mmmmmm gin)) and about an hour. I really wish I could get over this...but I'm not so sure its something to "get over"...maybe its just not my style of socializing. I did have fun, for a while...was able to talk to some people I've missed for a while...and a few people whom I did not miss so much. The Village Bicycle was very friendly to me, and I might have been more than cordial back if I didn't know she's kinda dirty (and really, I wouldn't play with someone that I don't know where they've been). Actually I feel sorry for the poor girl; and I feel like a little bit of a jerk for using the VB label on her...but she should really be...not that way...at least not with people whom she doesn't know are clean. I don't care if you have lots of partners gals, just be responsible...thats all I'm asking.
Sigh...Could use me some cuddles. There WERE some gals there I would have loved to initiate cuddling with, and I chatted a few of them up; one in particular. Her and I are going sledding soon (maybe I can warm her up after <3) I actually do kind of like this gal We've hung out (and gone one "maybe?..." dates) a number of times before; had lots of fun ect. She's cute, smart, and really sweet, plus she loves her "real" job; working at an adoption agency. Its great to see she has such a passion for something that helps people build a family and take care of disadvantaged youngsters (orphans). Anyway...Wish me luck!
OH! And lots of people told me I was super cute out there...Still nice to hear, even if they were mostly drunk.
