you are the most jaded and cynical optimist i know. i have much the same philosophy though. whatever happens, it could always be worse, and even the worst that can happen isn't that bad. cus it's going to end at some point. i know how you feel with the work thing though. i've been working at night too, which wouldn't be nearly as much as a problem if i had a night off. ever. or if i didn't have to work in the morning on sundays after closing the night before. 
you just have to think of something really awesome to do on your way out. i'm going between sealing up the safe, unplugging the ice cream cooler, or setting off a stink bomb in the milk cooler. and leaving a nice long letter.
p.s. a minor lie to save someone's feelings from being needlessly hurt does not make you a hypocrite or a liar.
