RIP 1991 Jeep Cherokee Sport Engine.
181,000 miles on it never travel another....
Twas a 4 Litre engine with 6 inline. It was a good engine. Glutonous on the Petrol, but strong in both pulling and climbing. Though I only was with the vehicle about 2 total months I have owned it 14 months. It is a shame I couldn't have spent more time with it, but my deployment prevented that. The exact details on the how any why are fuzzy but the basics are this. It was running a fever on Friday and passed out at Sunrise and 50. The lone passenger and owner (myself) push the deralict auto down to Folsom and Sunrise then right down folsom to a Unical 76 Gas station.
He attempted first aid on the machine but it was beyond his power and only time and a good mechanic would tell. About and hour passes after the incident and an ambulance to the machinea (a tow truck) came to bring the immoble metal to its home. Once home the beast was given time to rest, cool down and recover. On both Saturday and Sunday it was checked on and all seemed well on the surface.
Monday and it was the time of truth. The machine made is last triumphant ignition and begain to run. To the joy of all those around I might add. It was desided that it should be looked at by a professional, so it took a short one mile trip down greenback and into the parking lot of a shop. There it wained and passed from funtion to fault again. It was quickly revived and moved one last time. There it now lay.
ATTN: Seeking 4 liter 6 in line cylinder engine for the hull of a Jeep Cherokee Sport. As long as the engine is a 4.0 with 6 inline I am told it will work in the Jeep so I just need to find one for a good price. I went to craigs list searched Sac and SF and all the ones posted where sold unfortunatly. I one guy who said he would sell one with 69,000 miles on it for 1k but thats a lot for a used one with that many miles on it when I can buy a new one for around 1300-1600. All of that is more than I want to pay though. Being a brokeass student and soldier doing nothing right now but waiting for money and classes to come in due time I have to be concervative with my funds as do most.
Any help and info is greatly appriciated.
