My wife, Helen Meany, and I recently celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary together. Needless to say I found the entire event to be disappointing. It began in the late afternoon. Unfortunately, the banquet was open to family (her family. always.) And I had to suffer through endless hours of meddlesome children, running around, disrupting my quiet home and touching my antique gun collection with their filthy hands. After dinner and tea, the children fell asleep. Helen and I played doubles cribbage with her nephew and her nephew's husband (and may I add, how disgusting). Of course, I won. As we always do every year, Helen and I reaffirmed our vows to each other. Eventually the family and their hateful children ended their violation of my home and went back to theirs. Helen went to bed without me as she always does (She claims that I "snore") so I suppose I will stay awake for a while and watch television. I doubt anything good will be on.
