Well, I was reluctant to update my journal because I wanted to keep showing off my pics with the SGB folk as long as fashionably possible. All good things though...
I've been preoccupied with dull stuff most of this week. For the class I'm taking in interactive media, I put together a couple of submissions for the Del Mar Fair. I did it on behalf of my teacher, so she would have a decent turnout from her class. I feel kinda silly though, like here's the prize winning pig, and over here we have the prize winning art. They even award a ribbon for "Best in Show".
[rant] You know, this is the sort of thing that inevitably ties the word art to "crafts". Despite being crafty (and I do like to rhyme), I resent the arts being lowered to the base level of "crafts", dammit. To me the phrase "arts and crafts" is almost as bad as saying "artsy fartsy". Now, the "artsy" I have no quarrel with. It's the "fartsy" I object to (and, as mentioned above, I even like to rhyme). I say, the next time you hear someone say "artsy fartsy" you should reach out and strike them. Promptly slap them in the face, or at the very least curse their mother. In the meantime, I'll be at the fair seeking approbation. [/rant]
Things have been looking up a bit the past couple of days. I've been corresponding with the lovely gambitgirlie, and look forward to meeting her in the near future. In general, I'd like to meet more of the San Diego SG folk (may even go to the upcoming bonfire). She has the decided advantage of being both saucy and clever though, so she's first on my list.
On the down side, I'm off to my uncle's memorial service this weekend. Travel plans are somewhat brutal. We leave San Diego in the wee hours on Saturday, spend Sunday in Northern Michigan, and return on Monday night. I helped my Mom with her eulogy tonight. Oddly, she decided to close with lyrics from a song by Pearl Jam called "Man of the Hour". Apparently she heard it on the soundtrack to "Big Fish".
Probably won't have time to update my journal before I split, so wish me luck and so on.

You don't know me and I don't know you but I need a favor. Go to the bonfire/beach thing. I hear so many good things about you and need to meet you now. If not I'll be forced to stalk you. Thanx.
