Urgh.
My life has been challenging of late. Most recently, due to a death in the family. My uncle passed away over the weekend. I didn't get along with him very well, but my Mom was really broken up about it. I ended up spending a couple of days at her house to, well, to be there I guess. Heavy, difficult, emotionally stressful situation. I need *fewer* of those.
As a result I'll soon be headed back to Michigan, for the first time in nearly a decade. "Up North" as they say, near Mackinac Island. Not exactly a festive occasion, but it is truely beautiful there. Don't get me wrong, Southern California isn't bad as far as beautiful places go. But I was spoiled as a kid, alternately by the tropical isles of Hawaii where I went to elementary school, and the wooded lakeshore where I spent my summers with the fam.
