I'm engaged!

... and I owe it all to SuicideGirls (about a year and a half ago I met my sweetheart through this very site).

We were both members of the San Diego group, and she suggested that everyone get together IRL and go to the swap meet (god, I'm ashamed to admit it, but I've been waiting to have a reason to type "IRL" for something like 8 years).

Because she was somewhat camera shy (a condition which dating me has more or less forced her to overcome), she didn't have any pics posted in her journal. In fact, most of the people who were planning to show up didn't have pics (freaks), and I wasn't sure how I would recognize them.

So I suggested that everyone either wear a carnation (like the blind date in "The Shop Around the Corner") or take a black sharpie and make a large X on their forehead.

Then I flaked and didn't go.

She wrote me an angry note asking what the hell she was supposed to do with a large X on her forehead.

Shortly thereafter we met and fell in love.
