Today's breakfast of Ibuprofen and Methoxisal has already worn off. Oh joy.

I cannot wait to leave Fort McMurray.

Spend 16 more years there. Then we'll talk.

It's okay. We all grow and change. This usually allows us to leave things behind and move on.

If you do go, I wish you the best of luck in the future.

I exist!

I've been neglecting SG for a good long while and I figure it's about time to give the three of you that care an update. If I'd done this 3 weeks ago, I'm sure it would have gone something like "Now is the winter of my discontent. Woe is me that the shortened days lead to less socializing, inaction...

Epic fucking weekend. Dear FSM!

Lost my keys, went to calgary, got three hours of sleep, got stuff for the apartment, put apartment together, gardened, got groceries, did laundry, slept, fixed a laptop, napped, moved furniture, hung out, slept, put the slow-cooker on this morning.

WTF.

Let's do it again!

Sounds like my kinda fun...!

I have read World War Z and listened to the audiobook. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook if you enjoy the more brain involved version.

I was having trouble getting through The Shock Doctrine in print for the same reason but since I'm listening to the audiobook while driving I can't really keep switching it off every time I'm filled with rage. Almost done with it now.

I can has place to live!

I don't know if it was the fact I was in a postcommute-pretea stupor, but when the new landlord called to let me know that the place is mine if I want it he sounded... shocked, maybe? He told me I got a glowing reference from my employer and my credit check came back showing I have excellent...

Oh I'm sure it's something like "shit happens" but it seemed much more profound after an hour and a half of waiting room boredom.

The Sun? Oh god... I brought a book with me thankfully. After being stuck reading years old copies of Readers Digest in the clinic in Edmonton I wanted to be prepared.

Well, I went to see the place this evening. It's smallish, and it's not cheap for what it is, but I can definitely see some good times there. I let them know as I was still there that I was interested in the place, gave them my info for a background check and all that fun stuff.

We'll see how it goes...

I have an apartment viewing tomorrow after work. I'm rather looking forward to it. It seems as if it should be some important step forward. I'm rather fond of the idea of having a place of my own, finally.
glass_cat:
hope the viewing goes well for you... change of scenery never hurts.

Balzac.

I'm going to Inuvik for work. Flying up Sunday and GTFO on Monday. Should be enough time to fix the problems, scout the site for future upgrades, hit up the shops and buy some fleece for my mother that's more expensive by weight than coke (well... maybe not, but fracking close).

This shall be a fun one boys and girls. Expect bitching.
glass_cat:
honestly? A bit envious... I'd enjoy going north for a bit.

Especially knowing I would get to come back.

Things looking up? Perhaps. I did get fucked by insurance, and fucked by my own stupidity wrt the car break-in, but I'm feeling better.

Perhaps I can turn the violation into a lesson that keeps me from getting too attached to my stuff.

Outside of that, I have a ticket that says Iron Fucking Maiden on it that I didn't have to part...

sorry to hear about the insurance/stupid... glad to hear about Iron Maiden.

It isn't my way, but they are an establishment that commands at least a li'l respect.
