This has probably been brought up before, which is why I'm using it as a journal entry. As opposed to a subject on the boards. It may mean fewer (or no) responses, but why clutter up the sex/Bush/date me discussions.
While the media likes to tell us crime and gun violence is taking over the world (and multiple threads open up over supposed anti-gun documentaries (I say supposed, because while Moore set out to prove guns were bad, he actually couldn't do it and ended up making a strong case for media and media caused fear being to blame)), take a breath now... suicide is actually much higher on the list of ways we die, than homicide.
Now, I understand why the news doesn't cover heart disease (number one) or accidents or cancer or whatnot (unless they can wring a tear out of it), why don't they report suicide? Is it because they think people will get all depressed and be copy cats?
But, what happens instead... is what happens whenever something is covered up instead of talked about (sex and drugs anyone?).
It ends up becoming more prevalent.
So, lets talk about it. I'm not talking your gut reactions or simple statements.
I want to hear stories. Of anyone you know. Of yourself. Experiences.
Get it out in the open, off your chest, whatever.

I can. But it takes work, it doesn't just happen. When I was younger (about your age I started intentially doing it... intentially looking at situations I'd gotten myself into and breaking them up to figure out why. I encourage the exercise. And you have to spend time alone. I don't mean on the couch, I mean live by yourself for a while. Don't date for a while. Let the sound of your brain filter through all the noise that normally surrounds you.
And learning doesn't have to be 'seeing the beauty'. Learning is not doing the same destructive thing over and over again.
As a storyteller, I'm paid to find a story every day
